Photoshop Express launches

Web-based apps really seem to have taken a turn for the better recently and Adobe’s newly launched (in beta initially) Photoshop Express is certainly no exception. Having been struggling with the consumer grade Photoshop Elements for the last couple of years, the speed with which edits and previews appear in a web-based app like this is a revelation. The fact that it is built in Flash makes it look far more appealing too – nice transitions between menus and edits. The service even integrates with Facebook, Photobucket and Picasa, meaning it’s sure to gain legs once those tech-savvy social networking youngsters get a hold of it.

Shattered Lives

Our newly launched Shattered Lives site from the Health and Safety Executive highlights the dangers of slips, trips and falls in the workplace. See how an accident can affect the life of the employee and employer and learn valuable tips for accident prevention. Very impactful stuff, if we do say so.

Facebook chat leaked on the internets

Facebook is set to launch instant messaging functionality on the social network in the next couple of weeks. Users can set status in a similar manner to MSN Messenger and browse lists of all their online friends. As we’ve come to expect from Facebook, usability looks top notch – users can continue to browse the rest of the site without closing the chat window or if they wish, launch in a separate pop up. Check out the video for a decent (if slightly shaky) demonstration.

Absolut waste of time?

The ‘In an Absolut world’ website has me intrigued. Other than running incredibly slowly and somewhat resembling a Playstation game circa 1995 (the lack of anti aliasing is so apparent that much of the text is illegible), I just wonder how many consumers would really ‘get it’. Absolut are innovative, they like new ideas. So far so good. But really, how many people in their target market will take the time to browse a site like this? And what will they take away from it? Oh, everything launches in pop-ups too – great for us Firefox users.
