Everything gets an app store

Oh, Apple. Look what you’ve done. Amazon had today announced that an app store is on its way for their Kindle e-reader device. Apps on phones made a whole lot of sense – sure, other mobile platforms had user-installable programs way before Apple’s iPhone. But the fact that you could easily download and install apps over the air and crucially, browse all the apps in one place meant things took off very quickly indeed.

Bill Gates joins Twitter, gains close to 150,000 followers in 12 hours

There was a short period of time last night when this blogger was more popular than Bill Gates. That period of time lasted approximately one minute. Yes folks, the world’s richest man has joined Twitter. His rise has been pretty extraordinary – it took him mere minutes to rise from 400 to 4,000 followers. And as of writing he is rising by approximately 10,000 followers an hour.

The Future of TV is Apple

Those very nice people over at New Media Age have just published an opinion piece on Apple and TV by Craig Walmsley, Managing Director of 4D Digital in the UK. Constraints of space meant that the original version of the article was shortened for print – so we thought it might be good to share the whole thing on our blog.

Do Ray-Ban have another viral hit on their hands?

‘Guy Has Glasses Tattooed On His Face’ represents another in a long line of videos released under Ray-Ban’s ‘Never Hide Films’ moniker. The video has garnered around 80,000 views in its first 24 hours online and with those kind of figures could be as big a success as our favourites ‘Sunglass Catch‘ and ‘Bobbing for Sunglasses‘, the former of which has over 4.5 million views. This time they’re even supporting it with a flickr account.

The 100 most social brands of 2009

Mashable has today published a list of the 100 most social brands of the past year based on information fromVitrue’s Social Media Index. Brands are ranked by the number of consumer comments & reactions rather than activity from the brand itself meaning the title is a little misleading but it makes for an interesting read nonetheless.
