Podcasting welcomes dynamic ads

New technology developed by Wizzard Media will soon allow advertisers to dynamically insert ads into podcasts. So instead of the usual static pre or post-roll we’ve become used to, ads can be inserted within breaks in the podcast itself and updated and changed as and when required. So let’s say you want to raise awareness of a gig. You can insert the ad after a song from a band appearing at the gig within a music-based podcast. Then after the gig is over, the ad will be replaced with something else, ensuring the advertiser gets the best possible value for money (after all there’s no point advertising a gig that’s already taken place) and the listener gets the most relevant information. Nice.

I’m going to go out on a limb and state that Digg is the most forward-thinking site on the web. Let’s start with the basics. You submit a story to the site which other users can then ‘Digg’/vote for. The more Diggs a story receives, the more prominence it is given on the site. If you don’t like the story you can ‘Bury’ it.

Apple adds dedicated museum guide podcasts page to iTunes

From their roots in pre-recorded radio shows to now serving lazy students the lectures they missed or offering tourists spoken guides to cities and museums. Of course Apple aren’t onto anything new here, it’s just nice to see that they’re recognising the trend. We’re still patiently waiting for some fancy hyperlinked photos embedded into our podcasts to enhance the advertising potential tenfold.
