Cheese. Burgers.

Cheese websites. Probably not the most interesting things you might think. We’ve probably all come across a similar situation: how to give a low-interest product a captivating online presence. Wisconsin Cheese have gone down a pretty intelligent route: don’t focus on the product, focus on the delicious things you can do with it. Because everyone likes a juicy burger right? Have a flick through the exquisite looking burgers, learn how to make them yourself and share them on facebook. Our favourite? Number 18: The Pioneer.

Every Second…

Lovely little graphical representation of how many Xs happen a second. How many deaths from smoking, how many stars born, how many mobile phones sold. You could imagine something like this making a big impact if used correctly in advertising. How about how many trees cut down a second for an environmental campaign? Or how many cans of Coke Zero drunk for a new Coke campaign?

Get out and play with Nokia

Could it be? A website that perfectly echoes the values of the brand it’s promoting? This is one of our favourite brand sites of the year so far. Even the loader screen is about playing. Great stuff. Be sure to check out the behind the scenes video to find out how it was put together. Let’s just hope the N-Gage isn’t quite such a colossal flop this time.

Hey! Nielsen is an interesting new website. Agree/disagree?

Hey! Nielsen is an interesting new idea from the people who bring us sophisticated web research and analysis along with lots of complex data and graphs. Except this time the site is aimed at users of social networks, not number-crunching analysts. You choose a topic (be it a celeb, film, video game etc.) and submit an opinion about it. Other people can then vote as to whether they agree or disagree with you and explain why.

Social network aggregators: the logical next step

With the recent and continued proliferation of social networks it’s no real surprise that we’re beginning to see sites emerge that help you keep track of all your profiles. Profile Linker promises to link together your profiles from all the social networks, blogs and community sites you’re a member of in one central location. It currently works with over 75 different networks. OtherEgo works in a different way by embedding your various profiles into one webpage and allowing you to browse them using tabs. It makes for an easy way to show your friends all of your social network profiles in one place. Profilactic is slightly different again, choosing to display a feed of your activity from around the web in one place. So any videos you favourite on YouTube, any photos you upload to flickr, any stories you digg on Digg, any updates to LinkedIn or Facebook…well you get the idea. Basically, whenever you update any of your social network profiles, it is added to your feed on Profilactic.

Techselector: the end to all your gadget woes

Are you the type of person who’s forever being asked for tech recommendations from your friends because “you work with computers so you must know, right?”. If so, Techselector could well be your new best friend. Users select a category (e.g. DVD players), answer a few questions about features they’re looking for and receive a tailor-made list of recommended products. You can then refine and review the recommendations and click through to buy them. Give it a go and let us know how decent your results were.
