Burger King’s Windows 7 burger makes us hungry (then a little sick)

Honestly, we’re not obsessed with writing about Burger King ads. They’re not a client. We’re not pitching for them (saying that, BK – if you’re reading this, do get in touch). They just seem to do some very interesting marketing. Take their latest stunt for example – the Windows 7 burger featuring, yes you guessed it, 7 patties and available for 7 days. Surely this is marketing genius?

Burger King’s new ad will blow your mind

We like Burger King’s advertising. We thought their Whopper Freakout was clever – take the Whopper (a product that practically personifies the brand) off the menu and use hidden cameras to record the outrage. We covered their launch of a meat-scented fragrance way back when and for those of you who have strong stomachs, Piers Morgan is the star of the UK version. Their Whopper Sacrifice campaign was an ingenious use of social media, blending product attributes with virtual rejection. They even crafted several advergames for the Xbox a couple of years back.

Facebook closes Burger King’s Whopper Sacrifice App

For those of you who didn’t see it, Burger King (via their agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky) launched a Facebook app at the beginning of this year offering a free Whopper to anyone who ’sacrificed’ 10 of their friends by deleting them. The best bit was, if you’d been sacrificed an alert would appear in your newsfeed, letting you know that you now ex-friend valued a burger more than your virtual friendship.

Burger King enters the fragrance industry, naturally

There are things brands do to get a bit of cheap publicity and then there’s…well there’s this:   “The Whopper sandwich is America’s favourite burger. Flame by BK captures the essence of that love and gives it to you.”

Eat like snake

Not sure how we missed this. Very funny ad.
